We have two different committees:

  • The ABIDE Committee
  • The Student ABIDE Committee

Both groups welcome new members. Read below to learn more about the ABIDE Committees:

If you or your department/institution wish to become a part of the ABIDE Committee on campus, please contact Brian Luu at btluu@ucdavis.edu.

If you are interested in becoming a part of the Student ABIDE committee, please contact the ABIDE president at ucdstudentabide@gmail.com.

The ABIDE Committee

The ABIDE committee is comprised of staff representatives from various departments across campus that support positive body image promotion: Student Health & Counseling Services, Campus Recreation and Unions, UC Davis Dining Services, and the Women's Research and Resource Center. This committee meets monthly to plan the quarterly ABIDE events. This group is dedicated to raising awareness about how society might influence one’s relationship to their body and to food. ABIDE believes in the prevention and reduction of body image oppression through education, outreach, support and intervention.

The Student ABIDE Committee

The Student ABIDE committee is a group of students interested in promoting and collaborating with the ABIDE committee in implementing campus activities and campaigns. This is a group of students that meets weekly to monthly to assist in coordinating the quarterly ABIDE events as well as other little events and campaigns throughout the year. Currently the three quarterly ABIDE events are:

  • Fall: Myth of the Freshman 15
  • Winter: Celebrate Your Body Week
  • Spring: Great Jeans Giveaway
